Depop's help centre tells you how many photos you can add and little else about the file. Up to four photos and one video in the app, up to eight photos on the web. The square shape and pixel sizes you will see quoted come from third party guides, and those disagree: some say 1080 px, others 1280 px.
This tool uses those two figures, with 1080 px as the floor and 1280 px as the target, and it tests for a square. Read a fail here as advice for a better looking shop, because we found no Depop page saying such a photo gets refused.
App or web changes what you can show
The photo limit differs by where you list. Four photos and a video in the app, eight photos on the web, per Depop's listing help page. If an item needs more shots, such as a vintage jacket with a label, a repair and a measurement, listing from a laptop gives you the extra room. Drafts carry across both, so you can begin on your phone and finish on the web.
Depop's own blog says listings with video are about twice as likely to sell within 30 days, on average. That is Depop's figure and not one we have tested, but a short clip showing how a fabric moves is easy to make with the phone already in your hand.
Why Fix All crops on Depop
On catalogue marketplaces Fix All pads a photo on white, but on Depop it crops to a centred square, because shops are browsed as a grid of styled pictures and white bars tend to look out of place. If the crop cuts off the item, crop by hand in your phone's editor and test it again. The first photo you upload is the one buyers see first, so spend your effort there.
